Digital technology has revolutionized not only the way information is
packaged, processed, stored, and disseminated, but also how users seek and
access information. Academic libraries no longer restrict themselves to print
services but have extended their
efforts to interdisciplinary concepts and computer software, hardware and
telecommunication technology. Following are the resources of libraries in
present ICT era.
• E-Books are electronic version of a printed book which can
be read on a computer or a specifically designed handheld device.
• E-Journals are the electronic journal which is published in electronic format, usually on the Internet. Electronic journals have
several advantages over traditional printed journals.
• E-Theses: An e-thesis or electronic thesis describes
a thesis in digital

• Digital archives: A digital archives is a repository that stores one or
more collections of digital information objects with the intention
of providing long-term access to the information. A digital archive can
be a sophisticated, multi-tiered storage system or simply a C: drive on
someone’s home computer.
• Library networks: A library network is a collective or co- operative
activity of linking. Members or users to the resources hosted on computers by
means of telecommunication connections.

sharing a common virtual environment on the web, rather than
meeting in a physical location. Virtual events are highly interactive, looking
and feeling a lot like their physical counterparts.
• Virtual help desks: A virtual help desk allows IT support organizations to
virtually deploy IT technicians on demand to support a computer user
experiencing technical issues.
• Web exhibitions: They are created by libraries, archives, historical societies, and other scholarly institutions; and museum exhibitions with
major emphasis on library and archival materials.
• Bulletin board: A notice board, an Internet site where users can post
comments about a particular issue or topic and reply to other users’ postings.
• FAQs: A list of questions and answers relating to a
particular subject, especially one giving basic information for users of a
